today....

I have achieved much today....I like that feeling....what about you? you too???
I import pure wool felt by a 23m roll and dye until my heart is content turning from this......

to this.....
piles and piles of beautiful vibrant and pastel and mixed (into the forest, mermaids, autumn and rainbow along the back) colours ready for my customers to be creative with....
I just had a customer last week who was going to make bunting for her child's bedroom. Others make Steiner play toys and dolls and others, I have no idea.

I have been painting these rainbow stripes for years and have never listed on them in my ETSY shop....not sure why. I guess it is because they take a little while and I have to be very patient and careful not to let any drips spoil the piece and really I can only keep up with my customers in my shop but I thought I should share them on Etsy and through my blog for a while and see how I go.

Pieces are approx. 40x45cm and are $24 each ($AUD)...(which is a little more in $UD's)

I have also been working on some sample colourways in my hand dyed pure wool, for a shop up in Brisbane....here is 17 of the colours I have put together.....more on that later.

As usual busy, busy times!!!!

I am off to Melbourne on the weekend to go to the Melbourne Garden show in Carlton where my little/big brother will be exhibiting in the garden section....Good luck Jas and the crew at Greenart Gardens. I am soooo excited. Some of you may remember my excitement back in January when I hit Melbourne for the first time. Staying in St Kilda!!!! Yay!!!!

Hope life is good and crafty....did you sign up for the 'Granny a Day' over at Meet me at Mikes....it is not too late....go on...

Tuesday....dyeing day

My stock of hand dyed wool felt has reached an all time low. With Christmas and then the new shop in town (Art Depot 55) taking all I had left at the end of last year, I thought I had better have a felt dyeing day instead of a wool dyeing day.

So I started with a walk along the beach with my mate 'Puddles'.
Back to a peaceful house as everyone had gone off to school.....
*******************************

I import quality wool felt from Europe on a 23 metre roll which is 180cm wide. I start by cutting it into 45x50cm pieces and soaking it in warm water with a dash of soap flakes.
I use the Landscape dyes which I just LOVE!!!! They are so simple to use and they have strong, vibrant colours which is what I need.

When I am dyeing one colour I use a big pot on the stove....

I have been commissioned to dye 200 silk pieces and am just finishing that off with this stunning green. I have mixed two greens to get this yummy one below.

And when I am finished...this is what that pile in the first photo will look like....a bit of work still to go to get there...

Hope you are having a great Tuesday too....anything special

christmas wool felt ready for making chrissy decorations

I have been working on my wool felt for Christmas....hand dyeing in to two shades of red, two shades of green and a golden and then leaving one natural. The clothes lines and anything that resembles a clothes line has been draped over and covered.

It has been my intention for about a month now to make Christmas decorations for my ETSY shop...then it moved to kits for my ETSY shop and maybe I still might get there with that one.....but at least I have dyed the felt and that has made it to my ETSY shop....yay!!!!
So if you have plans to make decorations or I have planted a seed then check out my shop here or just email me with your postal address...

* I dye them in a 45x45ish piece for $20 each and the colours are in the photo above. The natural is $9.
*Smaller sizes come in a 22x22ish as a 6 pack (as in the top photo) for $27.50.
*11x22ish as a 6 pack for $17.50.
*and the smallest 11x11ish as a 6 pack for $9.

They have been so popular in my new shop in town which is sooooo cool!!!

More on the new shop later.

Now for some inspiring decorations I have stumbled across on ETSY.
Just love this one.

(can't get any simpler than this one)

So there you go.....you could sit there all day but I have chosen some that are I think are achievable to make yourself ( or purchase if you like)

Have you got plans for making your decorations or are you all sorted????

Would love to hear from you.
Happy crafting!!!
